Biomedical freezers are laboratory units that keep samples, reagents and products at sub-zero temperatures in a stable and controlled way, extending even into the ultra-low temperature range. There are several temperature ranges, from -10 °C to -26 °C, from -20 °C to -40 °C and from -40 °C to -86 °C, and they feature internal data logging to ensure traceability across the cold chain. The laboratory freezer relies on a set of components working in an integrated way, such as high-density polyurethane insulation or vacuum insulation panels (VIP), an outer door with a heated gasket that prevents ice formation and compartmentalized inner doors, a calibrated and traceable sensor with an independent access port for inserting a verification probe without compromising the seal, and a recording system with internal memory, export via USB or network and remote monitoring with notification by email or text message —the element that makes the unit auditable.
